Special Issue: Adaptive Optics
In order to commemorate 40-year Adaptive Optics in China, the editor team of OEE organized this special issue. The special issue firstly reviews the development history of Adaptive Optics in the world in an overview article. The other articles present the developments of high-resolution solar observations, beam cleaning of solid slab lasers, inertial confinement fusion (ICF), space-to-ground laser communication and coherent combining of fiber lasers, sodium laser guide star and then introduce some newly emerged technologies, including computational light field adaptive optical imaging, and wideband control of large-size piezoelectric tip-tilt mirrors and MEMS deformable mirrors, image post-processing. The article on the topic of SeeLight introduces the Adaptive Optics system simulation software jointly developed by the National University of Defense Technology and Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences. These are only a few China's achievements in Adaptive Optics over the past 40 years.
